Athlete / Athlete Development / Learn to Compete
Learn to Compete is the entry stage in the Podium Pathway. This is where athletes begin their journey of high-performance.

Entering Learn to Compete, and thus being part of the Podium Pathway, is a process that starts with athlete identification through Volleyball Yukon. It is athletes within our Team Yukon Program that are consistently reviewed by Volleyball Yukon for their potential in making national level programs (which enters them into the Train to Compete phase of the Podium Pathway).
A good indicator of wether you are in the right phase or not*, is comparing your current development to the standards provided by the Long Term Development framework as specified below for Learn to Compete.

*Being aged 16 to 19 does not mean you are in the Learn to Compete phase of the Podium Pathway. Instead, for most athletes across Canada and in the Yukon, athletes this age will enter the Fit for Life phase of Active for Life (learn more here).
